The ANBU visibly jerked as he heard his real name. "Only now then you tell me?" she complained.Īnko grumbled some more, then looked at Inu who still had his mask on. "The masks aren't stuffy if you lace them with chakra, Anko," Hiruzen supplied helpfully.Īnko looked wounded. Neko allowed herself to offer a low chuckle at her friend's antics. "Whew! My beautiful face is finally outta that stuffy mask!" she exclaimed cheerily. Not that she acted like one in the first place, but well. Without her mask, she was off-duty so she did not have to act like the ideal ANBU anymore. Hebi followed his command happily, swiping the mask off her face and letting it clatter on the Hokage's table. There was a sharp withdrawal of breath at Hiruzen's order. She carried no weapons, but if one looked closer, he or she could have seen the evil glints of multiple sharp senbon hidden in the ANBU's kunai pouch. She also had purple hair, but it was tied up in a spiky ponytail. The snake-masked ANBU twitched, betraying her surprise. Step up here." He tapped his wooden desk and Inu walked up in front of the Hokage. The ANBU with gravity-defying silver hair and a tanto strapped to his back stiffened up considerably and stepped up guardedly. There were two others apart from Kitsune and Neko. "Here it is, sir," she said respectfully, laying down a slightly old, yellowed scroll. She was dressed in the normal black and grey ANBU gear, the only two things noticeable about her being her standard katana strapped to her back instead of a tanto, and her long, cascading purple hair. "Neko has the scroll."Ī cat-masked ANBU stepped forward with a polite bow. We eliminated the targets," he stated calmly. Hidden were two wakizashi as a trump card in case something happened to his chakra and other weapons. At his hip was a silver chokuto, and he also carried the standard ANBU tanto. Its hilt was black with tiny white diamond patterns and a small golden fox symbol. He had a katana strapped to his back - its blade was ebony black, instilling fear in the hearts of his enemies as the katana sliced through the air with silent grace and lethal force. ![]() He was dressed in black ANBU gear, with a white porcelain mask depicting a fox. "Report?"Ī fox-masked ANBU stepped forward. You are back already, faster than expected," the aged Hokage smiled. SilverKatana does not own Naruto, and never will. Me: *pokes Itachi and gets ignored* Itachi-kun is mean =.= If you like a fanfiction where Naruto constantly shows off his skills, this is probably not for you. ![]() However, he won't be flaunting his skills. Maybe you'll disagree with me and think SoK is amazing.A/N: This is a godlike Naruto fanfiction where he is an undercover ANBU. but I also recognize that it's pretty popular in a lot of circles. I hesitate to recommend it, given that it has a terrible habit of dipping into stupid fanon like Naruto having suffered regular beatings from the villagers in his youth and making most of the cast unlikable assholes in a misguided effort to show that no one is perfect, that the world is complicated, etc. ![]() I don't like Shadows of Konoha much at all even if the author churns out some damn fine prose. I'll probably tackle this one after I get through Ghost, but that's going to take a while. I've not read Lost soul myself, but it was recommended to me once as being a pretty good stab at a Root-raised Naruto. ![]() I was on here complaining not too long ago that Hurricane Suite is way too repetitive for my liking, but Dr Snakes MD does have a big shakeup of the status quo about halfway through that really made me start coming around to it. He eventually makes the leap to ANBU/Root (and I wouldn't really consider this a spoiler, as Hiruzen and Danzo take an interest in him pretty early on in the story so there's only one way that can really go). Hurricane Suite puts Naruto on the fast track, getting a promotion to Chuunin while the rest of the Konoha 12 are still genin. It plays up Naruto as a child soldier who sees life through the lens of completing his mission, but he's not a total edge lord or a one-dimensional drone so far. I'm liking what I have read of Ghost so far. It's not *quite* on par with my all-time favorites (The Girl from Whirlpool and One Small Kindness), but it comes close and comfortably sits at third. I'll second Life in Konoha's ANBU as the best of the ANBU Naruto stories.
